This piece is a classic take I got into taking tradition and adding it a wink of modernity. The basis of the piece is inspired by the famous armless Nile Venus sculpture and by modern's popular gestures such as the dab. I think humor and vulgarization can serve the cause of higher education and knowledge through cross cultural references in art. I'm writing this in 2024 so my perspective on the piece is different than when I painted it. I remember having fun and dedication to detail in texture and shades in this one, looking to make an equilibrium between the references to a style of art through technique itself and a more avantgarde and personal approach to painting. Neo retro new old school or something like that... dab!
