This piece won first price of the "Accademia Grassi art Price" (Salerno) whilst exposed at the Provincia (Regional state building) in late 2016. It is based on an classical Orthodox Bulgarian icon that I revamped and intervened with popular culture images that "make sense" in our days. It follows my methodology of using past icons to reinterpret their meaning depicting them with modern ways to perceive the same thematics.
I like the idea of mixing humour and sutle messages for those who can read what's right in front of their noses. I didn't mean this piece to be blasphematory, I just wanted to extend the metaphor to funny interpretations. I don't believe in conspiracy theories nor on ancient aliens but I do like to use popular symbols to express complex subjects.
